Sorry, I don't have any project to show because I've been cleaning and doing an end to end reorganizing my workshop for about 4 days now. Just couldn't stand it any longer.
Dusty, crowded and disorganized. Another 2 days should see it reasonable, hopefully.
Thrown out 3 full rubbish bins so far from a 12 x 12 shop!
I just need a bit of cheering up....

Nothing on my bench at home but in the city I have 8 smoke saturated instruments that came in Friday to be cleaned and set-up and oh yeah I also have to throw a LR Baggs Lyric in a client acoustic. Should be a nice, busy day. I like being busy far more than being bored so I am looking forward to fixing stuff today!

I had the opportunity to work on one of those Yamaha Silent Guitars.... the classical style. I had never heard of such. Anyway - it was brand new off the shelf, and needed a setup badly. I pulled the saddle easily and took .070 off the bottom, and then set the action at the nut. No further adjustments were necessary, so I plugged in the headphones and played it. It sounded great! I was quite surprised. I would love to get my hands on the steel string version to try it out. Anyone else have experience with these?

Well I have an old Mahogany and Brazilian Rosewood Harmony 165 that looks as though it was used by Noah as a paddle during the great flood. It was unplayable when I got it. Half the braces on the top we're unglued. Only a little bit of damage on the back. I've got it in Ken Ceirp's adjustable mold.

Finally get around to binding the KMG Ditson 12-fret.

Finished up the box and added the end graft. It is sitting wrapped in binding tape as I type. Tamarind/ Englemann Dred. Curly Koa binding.

Oh you guys are going to like this one.

When I made my first acoustic I used some offcuts of pine that were close to guitar thickness. I bent a lot of sides and matched up some backs. Built some bodies, decided not to finish the two with pine tops. Sister wanted them to turn into art, finished off them by making 'necks' out of a spruce 2x6. Decided what the heck, put a cheap nylon bridge on the one, scrap tuners, see what it will sound like. Has X-bracing and built for steel, fretboard is some soft sugar pine. Just because, I am putting on a couple coats of wipe on poly, then just mount the tuners and do a basic nut and saddle set up. Have absolutly no idea what it will sound like.

I'm in the process of building a "Batson" style guitar for a client! This one has Ziricote B&S, and a bearclaw top. Maple bound soundhole, and body.

Here I have the first shellac coats on 4 f style mandolins. There is white binding under the blue tape.

Thanks Haans. The burst looks uneven in the photo probably from the flash. When viewed in hand the look is much different. It is water based dye rubbed in then sealed with sprayed shellac. I will pull the tape after several shade coats go on. Matt
